CNBC - A New Zealand couple has become the first people in the world to have a pizza delivered by drone.

Domino's Pizza flew the Peri-Peri Chicken and Chicken and Cranberry pizzas to the backyard of Emma and Johnny Norman's home in Whangaparaoa, about 20 miles north of Auckland .

Domino's claimed the flying pizza pie touched down Wednesday at 11:19 a.m. Auckland time after a flight of less than 5 minutes.

Hey, Domino's, sweet ride!

Behold the Domino's DXP (Delivery eXPert), a modified Chevrolet Spark tricked out with a warming oven and space for 80 pizzas, sides, two-liter bottles of soda and dipping sauces. (The driver's seat is the only seat, because, like cowboys, pizza delivery dude/-ettes ride alone.) There's even a puddle light that projects the Domino's logo onto the ground.

Alas, the DXP isn't shaped like a slice of pizza, but we can't have everything in this life.

American chain Domino’s Pizza has announced plans to invest €2.6 million in Portugal with the opening of 13 new pizza parlours by the end of 2016 – and a very clear goal to outgrow Pizza Hut and become the “leader of Portugal’s pizza market”.

With three outlets already open in Lisbon, plans are to open three more this year and another 10 in 2016.

Then the plan will be to start “expanding with franchising deals”, Francisco Serra, the head of Daufood – which is in charge of Domino’s operations in Portugal – told Diário de Notícias newspaper.
